Banana Slugs and the beach.

July 4th, 2011
During our second day in Santa Cruz we ate breakfast at Hoffman's, home of the best eggs benedict to ever grace the earth. And they were. Much like Wylie Dufresne, I am an egg slut. I love them. Especially poached over really great sourdough and under Hollandaise. Just no ham for me please.

After eating we walked around downtown, stopping at bookstores and shops that my dad used to go. We also passed by one of the first restaurants my dad took my mom out on a date to!

There was also like a 9am 4th of July "parade" consisting of about 11 people on a quiet Monday morning, and everything about it was perfect.

Then we self toured the UCSC campus and got to see where both of my parents lived, studied and met. And it was neat seeing my dad light up with stories and memories..

And afterward, my dad literally drove us to every single house he lived in while at UCSC, (and I don't think he ever stayed in one place for more than like 10 months..) including the house that he lived in during the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.

Then my brother was like "........... can we go to the beach?"
